Title
Permafrost Cocoon
Description
The worsening of global warming and the rise of extreme weather have brought us to a state of crisis. Yet humanity’s response remains clumsy and powerless, trapped in dilemmas of its own making—like a cocoon spun too tightly, destined for self-destruction.
In this work, we chose water pipes as a symbol of suffocation and entrapment. This cold, industrial material from everyday life extends into a metaphor for the breathlessness and inescapable struggle humanity faces in times of crisis.
Torn yarns represent the struggle and transformation of breaking out of the cocoon—softness intertwined with destruction, drawing the fragile line between hope and pain.
Heavy down-filled garments create an overwhelming sense of confinement and pressure. Visually, they evoke a weighty, suffocating atmosphere; physically, they restrict movement, forcing the wearer to experience discomfort and difficulty in action.
This layered construction is not merely about material contrast—it serves as a metaphor and reflection on the current state of humanity.
