Title
You’re Dressed Like That and Not Cold?
Description
This collection is inspired by a common expression of care from elders in Taiwan—a gentle, nagging kind of love. Even when the weather isn’t cold, wearing slightly revealing clothing often prompts the familiar line: “Aren’t you cold dressed like that?” Though repetitive and seemingly overbearing, this concern is a deep and tender form of affection.
The design centers around the contrast between “external coldness” and “inner warmth.” Garments feature a mix of exposed and covered structures, incorporating puffy down-filled elements. Traditional colours like fuchsia and purple—often worn by grandmothers—are used to capture the tension and humour of “grandma worrying you’ll catch a cold.”
This work is not only an experiment in fashion, but also a reflection and reinterpretation of everyday language and familial relationships. Those repeated lines—“You’ll get sick if you dress like that!”—have long been stitched into the fabric of our daily lives, soft yet profoundly real.
