Mono no Aware: The Heart That Feels the Impermanence of Things.
Knowing that blossoms must fall and the full moon must wane; knowing that all encounters lead to parting, and every stay must eventually fade away. Precisely because of this, people feel an unspeakable emotion in a quiet twilight, a passing breeze, or a falling leaf.
It is neither sorrow nor regret.
It is a tender gaze directed at existence itself as all things flow and transform.
Motoori Norinaga called it mono no aware — experiencing the world through a deeply moved heart. When one pauses to listen to the echoes left by time, mundane and fleeting things begin to reveal their own gentle light.
And mono no aware is born in precisely those moments:
Between person and object.
Between the passage of time.
Between presence and absence.
