INDIGENOUS FASHION EXHIBIT 2024
Event Description
The 2024 Taiwan Indigenous Experimental Fashion Exhibition is organized by the Department of Fashion Design at Shih Chien University, in collaboration with the Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines. This exhibition highlights the creative exploration of Taiwan’s indigenous cultures through fashion, serving as a platform for showcasing innovative and experimental designs inspired by Austronesian elements. The event reflects the university’s commitment to merging cultural heritage with modern design practices, offering a fresh perspective on indigenous fashion.
Event Highlights
This year’s exhibition features the work of second-year students, who created two sets of men’s and women’s indigenous garments as part of their first major design project. After completing foundational courses, students applied their skills to produce original pieces, with 40 standout outfits selected by seven instructors. These designs showcase a variety of styles and an experimental spirit, making this project a key milestone in their education and an important precursor to the dynamic fashion show that will take place later in the year.
