Title

From Tears to Flight

Description

This collection was inspired by a fleeting moment during a time of emotional low.
I stood still, watching the reeds beside me sway in the wind. In that moment, it felt as though they quietly absorbed my sadness. The wind embodied the weight of my emotions, while the reeds—though constantly stirred—never fell. They were soft yet resilient, silently accompanying and catching my sorrow.

I hope that those who have ever felt lost in their emotions can also be strong like the reeds. That’s why I chose the reed as the symbolic image of this collection—wishing that even after tears have fallen, one can find their footing in the wind and rise again.

In terms of materials, I used computer-knitting techniques combined with cotton-linen blends.
The knit portions feature looped textures to mimic the soft fuzz of reeds, alongside more linear knit patterns to represent the sensation of wind flowing through the body and the undulation of emotions. For the woven parts, I selected breathable and natural cotton-linen to reflect the reed’s free-spirited nature, growing in the wild and swaying with the wind.

The pattern design features irregular cuts at the neckline and sleeves, resembling the moment when fabric is lifted gently by the breeze—symbolizing emotions drifting with the wind. The generous draping and layered structures aim to evoke the comforting feeling of being embraced by reeds—a quiet companionship that gently holds and soothes one’s emotional state.
