Title
Look Outside
Description
“Look Outside” stems from a childhood memory stretched across time.
Back then, life in the classroom repeated endlessly — day after day, line after line. Daily routines felt programmed into the body, and I moved like a shell of myself, advancing toward goals set by others.
The space felt frozen; time slipped away like grains of sand. Freedom, compressed and suffocated, made it harder to breathe. I longed for a liberating escape, one tinged with defiance — but could only remain stuck, endlessly replaying the pain, desperately searching for a way out. Until, finally, I turned my head and saw the window. Blinding sunlight pierced through layers of cloud, and beyond the glass, the vast blue sky opened up, and with it, my breath.
This collection incorporates tufting techniques to recreate the surreal beauty of dreamlike clouds — a utopia within reach.
Materials such as black mesh, tulle of varying weights, denim, heavy tweed, curly fleece, and scuba knit are layered to express the escalating chaos of the emotional self.
The silhouettes are built from strong linear shapes and structured volumes, creating a stark contrast between the inner world and the world outside the window.
Throughout the garments, varied pleating techniques are used to evoke the tangled, overlapping sensations of confusion and emotional turmoil.
