“When the Wind Comes, I Cannot Keep My Eyes Open” originates from a bodily memory of riding a scooter with my mother, moving forward together against the wind. The collection transforms wind, attachment, and growth into a fashion vocabulary. Flow, asymmetry, layering, and enveloping forms serve as the primary design language. Through the layering of transparent and opaque materials, as well as draping and floating fabrics, the collection depicts the lightness and movement created as wind passes across the body. Different forms of pleating become a central element, using draped pleats, accordion pleats, gathered pleats, and cascading pleats to extend in different directions, creating visual shifts that resemble changing wind currents.

The color palette combines lake blue, misty pink, pale green, misty blue-gray, and warm pearl white. Through soft, low-saturation tones, I imagine the colors of memories formed by the wind, my mother, and our relationship. Velvet, chiffon, tulle, satin, and fringe are used to create layers through differences in transparency, sheen, and drape. Glossy satin is layered with matte tulle to maintain a gentle and harmonious contrast in texture.

The silhouettes combine asymmetric cutting, bias cutting, layering, and draping. One-shoulder designs and front-back and left-right shifts create continuous directions of movement throughout the garments. The waist is shaped through cinching and concentrated pleating, echoing the bodily memory of holding onto my mother’s waist while riding. Some garments incorporate ribbons stitched layer by layer onto mesh, hand-sewn feathers, and extremely long fringe. These details gradually shift the collection from enclosure and layering toward lightness and openness, expressing the process of moving from attachment toward growth.
