Description

Hunting Traces centres on those who have been stopped midway, exploring the traces of identity and memory that remain after an action has been brought to an end. With the implementation of the Hunting Act 2004, traditional hunting practices were interrupted and hunters lost their established place of action; however, the habits once embedded in the body and in clothing did not immediately disappear.

Taking the hunting garments left behind as its starting point, this collection traces a progression from action and suspension to the breakdown and eventual repositioning of identity. Wool is used as the primary material, while earthy tones of dark green, brown, and ochre establish the visual language of vintage hunting attire, reflecting the marks left by nature, the land, and the passage of time.

Through transformations of silhouette, layered construction, and variations of double-layered collar forms, the designs dismantle and reinterpret the original structure and order of traditional hunting clothing, creating garments that exist somewhere between wholeness and disintegration. The visual language of vintage hunting attire is retained, while structural alterations express the gradual dissolution of identity.
This is not simply clothing about hunting. It is about the bodily memories and lingering traces of identity that remain after a way of acting has disappeared.
