Cheng-Zong Yu is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Fashion Design at Shih Chien University, specializing in fashion design, garment construction, and pattern-making. He brings extensive interdisciplinary experience spanning fashion, art, and theater. His work has garnered international recognition, including winning the CLO Winner Award at the 2023 Bilbao International Art and Fashion Design Competition in Spain, being named a Top 10 finalist at the 2016 International Talent Support (ITS) in Italy, and receiving the Bronze Award and Most Commercially Valuable Award at the 2023 KFA Kaohsiung Fashion Awards.
Yu’s design concepts are deeply inspired by cultural contexts, focusing on interdisciplinary creation and experimental non-binary design. Actively collaborating in theater design, he has created costumes for MEIMAGE Dance productions such as Silent Island Rhapsody: Dance Taiwan, Silent Island Paradise, and Ultimate Forest. His works have been exhibited both in Taiwan and internationally, including Design South: Immersive Experience Exhibition in Pingtung, The Grand Puja of Art: Taipei Festival in Taipei, his solo exhibition Good Morning! Taiwan – The Taiwanese in Cyberspace, and at the ITS Arcademy Museum of Art in Fashion in Trieste, Italy.
Yu’s creations explore the role of fashion in contemporary art, theater, and digital media, aiming to redefine the function and meaning of garment design in performative contexts. His work demonstrates the boundless possibilities of fashion design in shaping the future.
