Ting-Hu
Department Director
I’m Ting-Hu, a proud graduate of Shih Chien University’s Fashion Design Department, class of 2015. Today, I’m the Director of the Dance Department at Huagang Arts School, but my career didn’t start in dance—it began with fashion design. During my final semester at Shih Chien, I landed an incredible internship opportunity at Jason Wu’s design company in New York. That experience showed me just how vast the world is and how much I had yet to learn. I participated in everything from design and pattern-making to factory runs, which gave me invaluable insights into the fashion industry. After that, I worked in retail and even dabbled in public relations, but ultimately, my passion for dance led me to shift paths.
As Director, I now combine my creative background with my leadership role, helping students explore the intersection of dance, design, and performance. I’m especially proud of the work I’ve done in organizing major dance competitions and workshops, which have strengthened our program’s connection to both local and international talent.

Educational Highlight
One of the most impactful classes I took at Shih Chien was pattern-making. I loved how hands-on it was and how it bridged the gap between concept and creation. It wasn’t just about making clothes—it was about turning ideas into something tangible, something that could tell a story. This attention to detail and process has been essential in my current role as a department director, where I oversee everything from planning events to coordinating large-scale performances.
