HISTORY OF EASTERN COSTUME

REQUIRED COURSE

This course focuses on exploring the cultural heritage of traditional Chinese clothing. Through various media, including videos, audio, images, and texts, it aims to deepen students' understanding of the history of Chinese fashion. The course delves into the evolution of traditional Chinese attire, including changes in systems and styles, stylistic elements, and cultural significance, with the goal of enhancing students' ability to incorporate these aspects into their design practices.

Students will learn about the aesthetics of different dynasties, iconic garments, and traditional hairstyles and makeup. By analyzing the details and cultural meanings behind traditional attire, students will gain a foundational understanding of Chinese fashion. This knowledge will enrich their design concepts and enable them to thoughtfully integrate traditional elements into their creations, bridging the gap between historical culture and contemporary fashion innovation.
