Product Supply Coordinator
Hi, I’m Cai-Syuan Young, a 2020 graduate from Shih Chien University. After graduating, I started as a sales associate at Issey Miyake Pleats Please, thinking that this luxury brand experience would be a great stepping stone for my future plans. Shortly after, I pursued a Master of Fashion (Entrepreneurship) at RMIT University in Melbourne. It was during a buying and merchandising course that I discovered my interest in the buyer’s role, realizing that my retail experience could be leveraged for new opportunities.
My career has taken off since then, starting with a role at Christian Dior Men and then moving into a shoe wholesale business as a wholesale planner and production assistant. Currently, I work as a Product Supply Coordinator at Peter Alexander, one of Australia’s leading sleepwear brands. Within just two months of starting, I earned a promotion, which has been one of my proudest achievements so far.

Educational Highlight
One of the most valuable classes I took at SCFD was the fabrication course. Every time I check product quality or fabric trims at my job, it reminds me of what I learned in that class. The hands-on experience and technical understanding I gained have been so useful in my day-to-day tasks. I also took advantage of international workshops, like the ISPO Masterclass in Germany and a Saint Martin workshop in England, which really expanded my horizons and fueled my dream of working overseas.
My advice is simple: “Just do it!” A lot of people dream but are too afraid to take that first step. Once you do, you’re already halfway to success. If I could go back to my time at Shih Chien, I’d take more practical courses, like the knitting class, because real-world experience is what sticks with you in the long run. Also, building connections is a big plus in this industry. In places like Australia, internal referrals can make job hunting so much easier, so work hard and build your network!
